ProPublica finds over 500 U.S. citizens detained by ICE, cites Long Beach injury
ProPublica reported on 21 October that its investigation uncovered more than 500 instances in which U. S. citizens were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, including a Long Beach resident who was handcuffed, injured and later taken to a hospital after an ICE stop.
The incident, which occurred on 17 October, first drew public attention after video released by StopICE. net showed agents tackling the man and pinning him to the ground, after which he said his arm was broken. Mayor Rex Richardson responded by filing a complaint with the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General and calling for an independent probe.
