Virginia Senator Louise Lucas arrested on federal bribery and racketeering charges
State Senator L. Louise Lucas and six family members were taken into federal custody in Richmond on federal bribery, racketeering and illegal marijuana distribution charges, USA Today reported.
Earlier, a Virginia grand jury had indicted Lucas and several associates on racketeering, marijuana distribution and money-laundering counts, and she surrendered to authorities, CNN said. The indictment, also noted by CNBC, identified her as Senate President Pro Tempore and an 82-year-old critic of President Donald Trump.
