Eagles place QB Jalen Hurts on IR after DVT diagnosis, season over
The Philadelphia Eagles announced on October 19 that quarterback Jalen Hurts had been diagnosed with deep-vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, and would miss the remainder of the season while receiving anticoagulation treatment, according to Yahoo Sports. Earlier, the team placed Hurts on injured reserve after a blood clot was discovered, as reported by NBC Sports. He had previously missed Week 6 because of a superficial calf clot treated with blood thinners, NBC Sports reported.
The injury also prompted the Eagles to evaluate backup options such as Tanner McKee, according to NJ. com.
