Brewers sweep NLCS, set to face Rays in World Series opener
The Milwaukee Brewers completed a four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series on Oct 20, clinching the NLCS title and a World Series berth against the Tampa Bay Rays. Earlier in the series, the Brewers took a 2-0 lead with a 7-4 win in Game 2, where William Contreras hit a tying home run and later drove in the go-ahead run. Yahoo reported that Jackson Chourio hit a first-pitch leadoff homer in Game 3, and the Brewers added two more homers, including a two-run shot by Jake Bauers, according to Defector.
Yahoo noted that Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto lasted only 2 ⅔ innings in Game 2, and Los Angeles Times said manager Dave Roberts was considering benching Shohei Ohtani. NBC News later linked Ohtani’s injuries to the Dodgers’ decline, and Dodger Blue quoted first baseman Max Muncy urging fans to fill Dodger Stadium for the remaining games.
