Troy Aikman says ESPN contract likely ends after Super Bowl
Troy Aikman said his ESPN contract may not be renewed after the Super Bowl, speaking from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. He added that he senses the network is moving in a different direction, his agreement expires in March, but he expects to finish the season without issue. Front Office Sports reported tension between Aikman and fellow Night Football analyst Joe Buck, noting that Buck secured a new six-year deal while Aikman had not received a formal offer.
NBC Sports later described the strain as coinciding with Buck's five-year extension and said Aikman's contract remained unsettled. Aikman himself told NBC Sports and Yahoo Sports that he would finish the season as a free agent and consider future opportunities after his contract ends. The Guardian also reported that his ESPN contract would conclude after the Super Bowl.
