Georgia launches probe into Six Flags Goliath coaster fatality
Georgia officials said they are conducting a probe into the death of a 42-year-old rider who was ejected from the Goliath hypercoaster at Six Flags Over Georgia on 12 October, examining possible maintenance lapses, design flaws and operator error. Police reported that the rider, identified as Hassan Kariem, was thrown from the coaster after it stopped mid-ride, killing him and injuring four other guests.
The accident prompted the evacuation of the ride and a major-crimes investigation by Cobb County authorities. Six Flags subsequently suspended nine similar attractions at six parks while the investigation continued, and earlier reports had highlighted a history of injuries and maintenance concerns across the chain.
