Family of Georgia coaster victim demands answers on preventability
The brother-in-law of Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, a 42-year-old Georgia man who was ejected from the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia, said his family is demanding answers about whether the fatal incident could have been prevented. The accident occurred on 12 October when the coaster stopped mid-ride, causing Kariem to fall and die while several other riders were injured.
Cobb County police opened a major crimes investigation and evacuated the ride. Six Flags subsequently suspended nine similar attractions at six parks while it reviewed safety procedures, and earlier reports had highlighted a history of injuries and maintenance concerns across the chain.
