Disney reissues "Avengers: Endgame" earning $86 million worldwide

摘要

"Avengers: Endgame" generated $86 million in its latest theatrical re-release, bringing its total gross to $2.88 billion and keeping it near the top of all-time box-office rankings.

"Avengers: Endgame" returned to cinemas this weekend, adding $86 million to its worldwide total — $26 million in North America and $60 million overseas. The added earnings raise the film’s cumulative gross to $2.88 billion, leaving it $39 million behind the all-time leader, "Avatar," which stands at $2.9 billion.

Disney and Marvel reissued the 2019 blockbuster to promote the upcoming sequel, "Avengers: Doomsday," slated for a December release. The re-release includes new footage and showcases Disney’s "Infinity Vision" certification, which assures theaters meet specific technical standards. The sequel will feature Robert Downey Jr. as the villain Doctor Doom and is expected to deliver a strong opening weekend.

"Bringing ‘Avengers: Endgame’ back to theaters with an exclusive look at ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is a smart way to give audiences a reason to revisit the film on the big screen and build excitement for what comes next," said Paul Dergarabedian, head of marketplace trends at Rentrack.

The re-release, dubbed "Avengers: Endgame Encore," topped both domestic and global box-office charts, reinforcing its position as the third-largest North American release with $884 million. It also became the second film ever to surpass $2 billion in international box-office receipts.

Among new releases, Paramount’s thriller "The Heart of the Beast" opened to $30.1 million from 63 markets and $20 million in North America, totaling $50.1 million worldwide. The film, made on an $82 million budget, has received an 87 % Rotten Tomatoes rating and an "A-" CinemaScore.

Universal’s animated feature "Forgotten Island" earned $7.8 million from 34 markets, with a global total of $20.6 million against an $80 million production cost. The studio hopes positive reviews will extend its theatrical run.

Earlier in the week, Universal became the first studio to exceed $5 billion in worldwide box-office revenue for 2026, driven by Christopher Nolan’s "The Odyssey" ($1.75 billion) and "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" ($1 billion).
