AMC Theaters in Chicago to Screen Dolly Parton Films This Week
AMC locations in the Chicago area will screen "Steel Magnolias" and "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" as a limited-time tribute to the late Dolly Parton.
AMC will feature two movies starring Dolly Parton at several Chicago-area locations beginning Friday. The limited engagement includes the 1989 drama "Steel Magnolias" and the comedy "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas," both selected to mark the singer-actress' recent passing at age 80.
The chain said the films will be shown at venues such as AMC River East 21, Village Crossing 16, and theaters in Naperville and Crestwood, among others.
"Steel Magnolys" was noted for its portrayal of close-knit friendships among women in the American South, while "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" follows a brothel owner and a sheriff confronting local moral pressures.
The screenings are part of AMC's tribute program following Parton's death after a short illness.
