AMC Theatres to Screen Dolly Parton Films in Tribute

Summary

AMC will show "Steel Magnolias" and "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" at roughly 200 locations from Aug. 28 to Sept. 2 as a tribute to the late Dolly Parton.

AMC Theatres announced that it will screen two films associated with Dolly Parton—"Steel Magnolys" and "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas"—at about 200 of its locations nationwide. The special matinee presentations begin on Aug. 28 and run through Sept. 2, with each participating theatre offering one showing of each title per day at the chain's Fan Faves value price.

CEO Adam Aron posted on X on Aug. 27 that the screenings are part of the company's tribute to Parton, who died on Aug. 25 after a brief illness. The chain said the films will be shown in theatres across the United States, including venues in Parton's home state of Tennessee.

AMC did not specify which exact theatres will participate. Customers are advised to check the AMC website or mobile app for local showtimes and ticket information.

Parton appeared in or contributed to a range of movies during her career, including "9 to 5," "Straight Talk," "Rhinestone," "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous," and "Joyful Noise," among others.
