Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty injured during practice

Summary

Ashton Jeanty was helped off the Las Vegas Raiders' practice field after landing awkwardly and was unable to bear weight on his right leg, prompting the team to pause the session.

Las Vegas – Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty was assisted off the practice field on Sunday after he landed awkwardly while diving for a pass during an 11-on-11 drill. The second-year player could not put weight on his right leg, and trainers attended to him before escorting him off the field. The team halted the session, with players kneeling in silence before practice resumed.

The Raiders have not released details about the extent of Jeanty's injury. Jeanty, who posted more than 1,300 total yards and 10 touchdowns in his rookie season, had been sharing reps with rookie running back Mike Washington Jr. It is expected that Washington will assume first-team duties while Jeanty recovers.

Dare Ogunbowale currently leads the Raiders in rushing yards aside from Jeanty, with 594 career rushing yards and 850 receiving yards. Washington Jr. has shown promise in preseason games, recording a 53-yard run against the Arizona Cardinals and contributing in both the running and passing games against the Houston Texans.
