Raiders weigh rest for running back Ashton Jeanty amid injury concerns

Summary

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty has struggled with ankle and foot injuries early in the 2026 season, prompting discussions about giving him a week off.

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty has been limited by injuries since the preseason, prompting the team to consider a short rest period. ESPN analyst Dan Graziano said Jeanty has dealt with an ankle injury and a foot injury, and was only cleared to play after a brief pre-game workout and a discussion with trainers and coaches.

"Jeanty has been bothered by an ankle injury since the preseason and is now dealing with a foot injury as well," Graziano said.

The Raiders' coaching staff indicated that Jeanty will be available for the upcoming game, but his production has been modest. He recorded 27 rushing yards on 10 carries and added 50 receiving yards in a 45-17 loss to the New England Patriots, and has not rushed for 60 yards or more since a 102-yard performance in Week 1 against Miami. Through five weeks, the Raiders rank near the bottom of the league in rushing yards per game and have scored only two rushing touchdowns.

"He does not want to take a week off and has pushed to play through the injuries," Graziano added, noting that the team's bye is not until Week 13.

If Jeanty were to miss time, the Raiders have confidence in rookie running back Mike Washington Jr., who could be supported by Dylan Laube for short-term duties.
