Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty listed as questionable for Patriots game

Summary

Las Vegas Raiders coach Klint Kubiak said running back Ashton Jeanty is doubtful to play Sunday against New England due to ankle and foot injuries, leaving rookie Mike Washington Jr. as the likely lead back.

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty was ruled questionable for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots after missing Friday’s practice with ankle and foot injuries, coach Klint Kubiak said. Jeanty was a full participant on Wednesday, but his involvement was limited on Thursday and he did not take part in the final practice before the team traveled to Massachusetts. The foot injury was first noted in the Thursday practice report, though Kubiak did not detail how it occurred.

"It's that time of year," Kubiak said. "Guys are getting banged up, and if he can't go, then we got to get the next man up."

Jeanty has been managing an ankle issue since late August, which he says has not affected his play over the past four weeks and expects to be fully healthy soon. His production has dipped after a 102-yard performance in the season opener, recording 162 yards on 55 carries over the last three games. He finished with 126 total yards, including 58 rushing yards, in a Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, where he appeared to be hurt after a defender landed on his ankle. After the game, Jeanty said he felt fine and would continue rehab.

If Jeanty is unable to suit up, rookie Mike Washington Jr. is expected to assume the lead running back role; he has amassed 120 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries this season.
