Meghan Markle previously expressed privacy concerns about UK schooling for her children
Meghan Markle said she was worried about paparazzi exposure if her children attended school in the United Kingdom, a concern she voiced in a 2022 interview. The couple is now planning to move back to the UK, where the children will enroll in local schools.
Meghan Markle told The Cut in 2022 that she was uneasy about her children attending school in the United Kingdom because of potential paparazzi intrusion at pick-up and drop-off times. She said, "Sorry, I have a problem with that. That doesn’t make me obsessed with privacy. That makes me a strong and good parent protecting my child." At the time, she accompanied journalist Allison P. Davis to collect her son Archie from a preschool in Montecito, California, where the visit was described as low-key, with only a few other parents nearby.
Prince Harry later praised British schools in a conversation with actress Joss Stone at the WellChild Awards in London, noting the importance of community for children. The couple has now confirmed plans to return to the United Kingdom for an extended period, with their children Archie and Princess Lilibet expected to enroll in UK schools. An insider said the palace has been informed and that King Charles III is aware of the move.
The couple will continue to operate as non-working members of the royal family and maintain their business ventures, according to reports. Their relocation follows earlier statements about stepping back from official duties and seeking a new role within the institution.
