Prince Harry and Meghan Transfer Archie and Lilibet to New School Over Security Concerns
The Sussex couple is moving their children to a different school in Britain after security issues arose with drop-off and pick-up logistics at their current school.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are withdrawing their children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, from a British school they entered only days ago. The decision follows a review with their security team regarding the practicality of the current arrangements, a spokesperson said on Monday.
The family returned to the United Kingdom last month after six years in the United States. According to the spokesperson, the move does not reflect on the school’s quality or the care provided by its staff.
Sources close to the couple, cited by Hello! Magazine, indicated that logistical challenges during school drop-off and pick-up, compounded by heavy traffic, created difficulties for the family’s security convoy. The Sussexes lost their taxpayer-funded protection after stepping back from senior royal duties in 2020 and now rely on a private security firm that is reportedly stretched thin.
Harry has previously expressed concerns about his family’s safety. The children are expected to begin at another local school soon, and a formal risk assessment is anticipated, according to the Daily Telegraph.
