Two teenage students arrested after shooting at Tacloban high school kills three

Police in the Philippines said two teenage students, 14 and 15 years old, opened fire at San Jose National High School in Tacloban on Monday, killing three classmates and wounding seven others. The suspects, each carrying a pistol, were arrested after the incident; one was detained at the school while the other was located nearby following a tip from residents. Regional police chief Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy said the shooters were close friends and claimed they had been bullied, though he did not provide further details. The school, which serves more than 1,500 students, had only a single guard on duty at its entrances, allowing the weapons to be brought onto the campus. Most of the victims were female. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered a comprehensive investigation and instructed authorities to increase security at schools and other public venues. Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said the president expressed sadness over the tragedy. The national police urged the public to stay calm and cooperate with investigators.
