Four Palestine Action Members Sentenced for Elbit Systems Factory Raid
Justice Jeremy Johnson of Woolwich Crown Court said the raid on the Elbit Systems plant near Bristol constituted a terrorist act, adding a terrorism connection to the activists' criminal-damage convictions, Middle East Eye reported. Al Jazeera noted that the judge described the operation as a terrorist act and emphasized the seriousness of the offence. The court then handed down custodial sentences to the four Palestine Action members, with terms ranging from roughly five years to nearly eight years, the BBC said.
The Times of Israel reported that the sentences spanned from four years eight months to seven years eight months, reflecting the court's assessment of the damage and grievous bodily harm caused. The activists, identified as Leona Kamio, Samuel Corner, Fatema Rajwani and Charlotte Head, were convicted of criminal damage and assault. Their legal representatives, including Rajiv Menon KC, said they would consider an appeal.
