White House official confirms DHS investigation into Ilhan Omar allegations
Homeland Security officials said a criminal probe is underway concerning Rep. Ilhan Omar, but did not provide details on any alleged immigration or naturalization violations.
White House immigration adviser Tom Homan told listeners of "The Sunday Briefing" that the Department of Homeland Security is conducting a criminal investigation related to Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., though he declined to share specifics. He said the inquiry is being handled by Homeland Security Investigations and emphasized that any alleged violations would be addressed regardless of a person's position.
"I know things are going on, but I can't give specifics of what's happening," Homan said.
When asked if he was confirming an investigation of Omar, Homan affirmed that ICE is reviewing a reported matter that requires further examination. He did not disclose any evidence or potential charges.
The comments follow remarks by DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, who suggested that Omar may have married a relative to facilitate immigration and indicated that further illegal activity could be involved. Vice President JD Vance also previously said the Justice Department was looking into possible immigration fraud involving Omar.
Homan explained that if proven, immigration fraud can lead to denaturalization, a process that has been used in past cases. Fox News Digital sought comment from Omar's office but did not receive a response.
