Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter aims to play every snap in both offense and defense

摘要

Jaguars wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter said he wants to be on the field for every play, while teammates and coaches assess his role in training camp.

Travis Hunter, the Jacksonville Jaguars rookie who was selected second overall, told NFL Network reporter Judy Battista that he wants to play every snap on both offense and defense. In a recent practice, Hunter recorded an interception and two receptions, including a 35-yard catch, while taking ten defensive snaps and seven offensive snaps in team drills, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco. Through the first week of camp, he has logged 34 defensive and 22 offensive snaps in 11-on-11 situations.

Hunter, who logged 324 offensive and 162 defensive snaps in seven games before a knee injury ended his rookie season, said, "All of them. I can’t stay on the sideline." His former college coach Deion Sanders has previously said Hunter has the ability to handle such a workload.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence commented that the decision on how to use Hunter will be left to the coaching staff. > "He’s lobbying enough on his own. He’d play every snap on both sides of the ball if he was able to," Lawrence said, adding that the team has many other skill players on offense and that coaches will determine where Hunter can contribute most.

Hunter suffered a lateral collateral ligament tear in his right knee during an October practice and underwent surgery in November. He finished his rookie year with 28 receptions for 298 yards and a touchdown, along with 15 tackles on defense.
