Jaguars coach says Travis Hunter's role will be expanded next week

Summary

Head coach Liam Coen indicated the Jacksonville Jaguars will increase Travis Hunter's offensive involvement for the upcoming game against New England.

Travis Hunter has seen limited action at wide receiver, accounting for just 10 percent of the Jaguars' offensive snaps in Week 2, while playing cornerback on about 60 percent of defensive snaps. The usage has drawn scrutiny after Jacksonville traded up to select him with the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

At a Wednesday press conference, head coach Liam Coen addressed questions about Hunter's role for the Week 3 matchup with the Patriots. > "Any time you struggle offensively, you look at the totality of it all. Travis is a big part of that obviously. We’re looking at continuing to find different ways to get him involved. You’re also looking at the other side of the ball... We’re gonna look at giving him some more this week."

Coen described the balancing of Hunter's playing time as an ongoing process, noting the team has yet to determine the optimal formula for maximizing his impact on both sides of the ball.
