Suri Cruise to Perform in Modern Adaptation of Shakespeare Play While Studying Musical Theatre
Suri Cruise, the 20-year-old daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, will appear in a contemporary version of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and is majoring in musical theatre at Carnegie Mellon University.
Suri Cruise, who recently graduated from New York City’s LaGuardia High School and is completing her sophomore year at Carnegie Mellon University, will perform in "Midsummer!," a 90-minute modern adaptation of William Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night’s Dream." The production, staged at the Trust Arts Education Center’s Peirce Studio in Pittsburgh, will run on July 31 and August 1 before the cast heads to the United Kingdom for a debut at the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The student-led show features fellow Carnegie Mellon drama students, and Cruise is enrolled in the university’s musical-theatre program, confirming a shift from earlier speculation that she might pursue fashion studies. In March, she appeared as Angel in a one-night staged reading of "Cosmic Microwave Background" at Pittsburgh’s Hazlett Theater.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes welcomed Suri in 2006; the couple divorced in 2012. Suri lives with her mother, while her father has maintained a distant relationship.
