Suri Cruise Appears in Pittsburgh After Changing Her Name
The 20-year-old, who recently changed her name to Suri Noelle, was seen outside a Pittsburgh arts center where she performed in a modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s play.
Suri Cruise, now using the name Suri Noelle, was photographed on Saturday outside the Trust Arts Education Center in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The college student performed on Friday and Saturday at the venue’s Peirce Studio in two productions of a contemporary version of William Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night’s Dream," alongside classmates from Carnegie Mellon University.
She was observed in casual attire—a patterned purple tank, white pants and black flats—talking with another person and appeared smiling during the encounter.
The performances are scheduled to continue at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe later this month, with daily shows at the Bijou theatre from Aug. 6 to Aug. 19.
Suri, who is studying musical theatre at her college’s School of Drama, previously made headlines for changing her name and for not using her father’s surname in a high-school production program, where she was listed as Suri Noelle, her mother Katie Holmes’s middle name.
A source close to Holmes said the actress was not surprised by her daughter’s decision, noting that Suri has long been independent and confident in making her own choices and that Holmes fully supports her daughter’s desire to live life on her own terms.
