Suri Cruise registers to vote under new name Noelle, ending use of father's surname
The 20-year-old daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes has legally changed her surname to Noelle and registered to vote in Pennsylvania, confirming a break from her father's name.
Suri Cruise, the daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, has legally changed her surname to Noelle and used that name when she registered to vote in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in October 2024. The registration, made during her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University, lists her as Suri Noelle, which Pennsylvania courts require to be the voter’s legal name.
Public records indicate that the name change was not filed in Allegheny County, suggesting it may have been processed in New York before she moved for college. Suri has been using the Noelle name publicly for several years, including on her high-school graduation program in June 2024, where she omitted her father's surname.
The young actress is studying musical theater at Carnegie Mellon and has performed in productions such as “The Addams Family: A New Musical,” a staged reading of “Cosmic Microwave Background,” and an upcoming modern adaptation of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Trust Arts Education Center. > A source told Page Six that Suri chose the Noelle name to honor her mother and to establish her own identity.
