Résumé

Apple supplier Foxconn is anticipated to commence production of Apple's foldable iPhone in late September or early October 2025, with a projected fall 2026 release as part of the iPhone 18 lineup.

Apple supplier Foxconn is anticipated to commence production of Apple's foldable iPhone in late September or early October 2025, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The device is projected for a fall 2026 release as part of the iPhone 18 lineup.

While the production timeline approaches, several component specifications remain unfinalized. However, the foldable display, to be manufactured by Samsung Display, has been completed.

Reports indicate the foldable iPhone will have a 5.5-inch display when closed and a 7.8-inch display when opened, folding in a book-like manner similar to Samsung's Galaxy Fold series.

The device is expected to measure approximately 4.5mm in thickness when unfolded and between 9 to 9.5mm when closed. Efforts have been made to minimize the visibility of the screen crease. It may incorporate under-display cameras and could utilize Touch ID authentication instead of Face ID due to spatial constraints.

The foldable iPhone is anticipated to be priced between $2,000 and $2,500. Kuo estimates that Samsung Display will produce around seven to eight million foldable panels for the device in 2026, with Apple planning to order 15 to 20 million units. Demand may be limited due to the device's cost.

Kuo notes that while a fall 2026 launch is targeted, Apple's plans are subject to change before the project reaches the production stage.
