Authorities seek public assistance in identifying the suspect responsible for the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.
Authorities have released new video footage and photographs of the suspect involved in the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. The incident occurred on September 10, 2025, during a campus event where Kirk was speaking.
The suspect, described as a college-aged individual wearing dark clothing and a backpack, was captured on security cameras accessing a rooftop, firing a single shot, and then fleeing into a nearby wooded area. Investigators have recovered key evidence, including a palm print, a shoe impression, and a high-powered hunting rifle found along the suspect's escape route. Despite receiving over 7,000 tips, authorities have yet to identify the shooter or establish a motive.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox emphasized the need for public assistance, stating, "We need as much help as we can possibly get." The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the suspect's identification and arrest.
The assassination has drawn bipartisan condemnation and renewed concerns about political violence in the United States. President Donald Trump announced that Kirk would be posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Kirk's remains have been transported to Phoenix, Arizona, with funeral arrangements pending.
