Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old from Utah, has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.
Authorities have arrested Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old resident of Washington, Utah, in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Robinson, a third-year student in the electrical apprenticeship program at Dixie Technical College, was taken into custody following a tip from a family friend.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox stated that Robinson had become "more political" in recent years and had expressed opposition to Kirk's viewpoints. Investigators recovered a rifle near the scene, along with bullet casings engraved with phrases such as "Hey, fascist! Catch!"
Robinson's family members reported that he had recently discussed Kirk's upcoming visit to Utah, expressing dislike for the activist's views. Robinson is registered as an unaffiliated voter and does not appear to have a prior criminal record.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet determined a clear motive for the shooting.
