Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams exits game with leg injury

Summary

Caleb Williams left the fourth quarter of the Bears' game against the Vikings after sustaining a non-contact leg injury, and was taken to the locker room on a cart.

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was forced to leave the game in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s contest with the Minnesota Vikings after he went down with a non-contact injury to his right leg. The play occurred on first-and-goal from the six-yard line when Williams rolled left and, despite having open space, appeared to feel a problem in his leg and fell to the field.

Williams had completed 15 of 26 passes for 138 yards and one interception, and added 42 rushing yards on five carries before the injury. After receiving assistance from trainers, he was escorted off the field on a cart and taken to the locker room, where he removed his towel and gave a thumbs-up to the crowd.

Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent entered the game for the Bears in the subsequent second-and-goal situation. The Vikings’ attempt at a 23-yard field goal by Cairo Santos was blocked, leaving the score at 6-3 in favor of Minnesota. Vikings running back Aaron Jones, who had been listed as questionable with a knee issue, returned to the field later in the game.
