Bears quarterback Caleb Williams ruled out with hamstring injury after loss to Vikings

Summary

Chicago quarterback Caleb Williams suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday’s game against Minnesota and will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity.

Chicago quarterback Caleb Williams was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings after scrambling and appearing to sustain a leg injury. The team later confirmed he suffered a hamstring strain and will undergo magnetic resonance imaging on Monday to assess the damage.

"We’re hopeful it’s a Grade 1 injury," Bears head coach Ben Johnson said after the game. Williams, entering his third season with Chicago, threw for 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions last year while also rushing for 388 yards and three scores. He helped the Bears finish 11-6 and reach the NFC North title and the divisional playoff round in 2025. The Bears indicated that if Williams is unavailable for an extended period, veteran quarterback Case Keenum would assume short-term duties.
