Heavy rains flood tens of thousands of Gaza shelters, prompting emergency calls
Gaza’s civil defence agency said that on 8 November heavy rain and strong winds flooded tens of thousands of makeshift shelters across the Gaza Strip, prompting about 1,500 emergency distress calls and raising concerns for premature babies, the elderly and the sick. The flooding followed a day earlier when heavy rains had inundated roughly 70,000 tents, leaving tens of thousands of displaced Palestinians exposed to cold, water and the risk of structural collapse, reports said. Aid agencies noted that daily truck arrivals of 180-200 fell far short of the 600 trucks agreed, worsening the humanitarian situation.
