Kellogg's reformulates UK Rice Krispies and Coco Pops, US recipes unchanged
Kellogg's said it has reformulated its Rice Krispies and Coco Pops cereals in the United Kingdom to use rice flour, while confirming that the North American recipes remain unchanged. The Grocer reported that the new formulation also substitutes corn flour and adds wheat gluten, prompting an update to allergen labeling. STV News noted that the switch was driven by weather-related disruptions to rice supplies in Asia.
CBC said the change removed the cereals’ signature snap, crackle and pop, sparking consumer complaints. GB News added that Kellogg's cited reduced rice harvests in Asia as the reason for adding wheat gluten.
