Kellogg's reformulates UK Rice Krispies and Coco Pops, US recipes stay unchanged
Kellogg's said it has reformulated its Rice Krispies and Coco Pops cereals in the United Kingdom to use rice flour and corn flour, adding wheat gluten, while confirming that the North American formulas remain unchanged. The change, first reported as a response to weather-related disruptions to rice supplies, introduced wheat gluten and required new allergen labeling. Replacing whole rice grains with rice flour removed the cereals' characteristic snap, crackle and pop, prompting consumer complaints in the UK.
