India's food regulators seize 3,200 tonnes and suspend dozens of licences
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) said it seized over 3,200 tonnes of non-compliant food items and cancelled 52 licences during a nationwide inspection drive aimed at curbing food adulteration. Earlier in the same inspection cycle, the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration reported halting licences of 19 operators and confiscating food worth more than Rs 9 crore after checks across seven divisions.
The state agency later announced the suspension of 105 food licences, including those of quick-commerce platforms Zepto and Blinkit, and ordered the closure of several eateries during a two-day inspection. In Mumbai, the Food and Drugs Administration said it also suspended 105 licences and cancelled the licences of seven eateries after finding significant violations.
