Death toll climbs to 40 after Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia aid centre
President Volodymyr Zelensky said on November 4 that a Russian bombing of an aid distribution point in Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhia region, killed 40 people and left more than 30 missing. The strike hit a school repurposed as a humanitarian centre.
Ukrainian officials first reported 24 fatalities and several injuries after the attack on November 2, with the death count later rising to 31, then 38, before stabilising at 40 as more bodies were recovered. The bombing occurred shortly after a limited ceasefire ended, prompting nationwide mourning and rescue operations.
