Baggage-handling recruitment at Changi Airport stalls amid work-pass concerns
The Straits Times reported that recruitment for baggage-handling positions at Singapore’s Changi Airport has been slowed by demanding work conditions and concerns over work-pass misuse, even though roughly 600 Singaporeans and permanent residents have applied. The slowdown follows a Ministry of Manpower investigation into about 45 firms linked to ground-services provider SATS for alleged false work-pass declarations and illegal foreign-worker deployment. SATS responded by redeploying existing staff and calling for volunteers to cover baggage-handling duties while the probe continues.
