Pentagon Refers Lt. Gen. Sylvia Dismissal to DOJ for Criminal Review
The Pentagon said it referred the dismissal of Lt. Gen. Brett Sylvia to the Justice Department for possible criminal prosecution after a Department of Defense investigation linked him to unauthorized disclosures of classified information about Iran and the Ukraine conflict.
Sylvia, who had been serving as the Joint Chiefs’ J-5 director of strategy, plans and policy, was removed by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth earlier this month as the Trump administration weighed additional strikes against Iran. The removal followed allegations that he had leaked sensitive material, a claim the Pentagon said was substantiated by its internal probe.
