Judge Orders Inquiry into DOJ Conduct Over East Potomac Golf Plans
U. S. District Judge Ana Reyes ordered a formal inquiry, appointing a special master, into possible misrepresentations by Justice Department officials concerning the Trump administration's plan to close and redevelop the East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D. C. , NPR reported.
Earlier, the judge had extended a preliminary injunction that halted tree removal at the historic course and required the administration to provide advance notice before making irreversible changes, according to CNN and NPR. The injunction followed the administration's announcement, including a Truth Social post by President Donald J. Trump that the course would be closed for redesign, which the judge said needed clarification, AlterNet reported. The Justice Department later filed a plan to shut the links by mid-November while litigation continued, CBS News noted.
