Toronto jury finds crypto fraudster guilty and places him under house arrest

A Toronto jury found Aiden Pleterski guilty of fraud on 26 October, ordering him to remain under house arrest pending sentencing. During the trial, prosecutors presented an audio recording in which Pleterski acknowledged that the alleged $300 million investment fund was fictitious and that he had misused investors’ money.

Pleterski, who represented himself, told the jury he was innocent in his closing remarks. Judge Shaun Nakatsuru later rejected his request for a mistrial, ruling that he had sufficient time to prepare a defence.
