FTC and 20 States File Lawsuit Against Dollar General for Pricing Deception
On 27 October in Washington, D. C. , Dollar General denied the lawsuit filed by the Federal Trade Commission and a coalition of 20 state attorneys general that accuses the retailer of systematic price mislabeling and overcharges, saying it will contest the case.
The FTC and the 20 states had filed the suit on 26 October, alleging that Dollar General routinely displayed higher checkout prices than advertised, affecting millions of purchases across the United States. Earlier reports from multiple outlets described the allegations as repeated price-tag violations despite consumer complaints and internal awareness within the company.
