Delhi traders warn of Rs 10,000 crore loss if Gandhi rally proceeds
On 27 October, the Delhi Chamber of Trade and Industry warned that the November 1 rally at Ramlila Maidan could inflict up to Rs 10,000 crore in wholesale and retail sales losses, and it urged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to postpone the gathering, saying the disruption would also cause severe traffic congestion in the surrounding area. The chamber had earlier written to Gandhi asking for a delay or relocation of the rally, citing the anticipated commercial damage.
Gandhi dismissed the request, stating that the protest would end only if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar were removed. He also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to dismiss the commissioner, saying the demonstration could be halted within seconds.
