Met Office keeps yellow wind warning as storms disrupt UK transport
The Met Office kept a yellow wind warning in force for much of Scotland and northern Ireland on 27 October, while rain eased in London and temperatures rose to about 16 °C, the agency said. Storm Boelo, together with the earlier Storm Austen, triggered power outages for roughly 150,000 homes across the United Kingdom, according to Euronews. The storms also disrupted transport in the northwest, where Merseyrail and national rail services faced tree falls and signalling problems, leading to cancellations and replacement bus services, the Liverpool Echo reported.
More than 100 flights were cancelled at Heathrow and Gatwick and rail services and public events in London were disrupted, the London Evening Standard noted. The severe weather caused two fatalities and significant flooding across the UK, ITVX reported, while about 90,000 properties in northern Britain remained without electricity after the storms, the Guardian said.
