Four Corners Flooding Could Cost $300 Million as Rain Returns
On 27 October, federal officials said the flooding across the Four Corners region could cause up to $300 million in damage as additional rain was forecast for the weekend. The National Weather Service placed much of the Four Corners area under a flood watch as thunderstorms persisted, according to CBS News.
On 22 October, the service also issued a Level 2 severe weather threat and flash-flood risk for southern New Mexico, warning of damaging winds, hail and a possible tornado, FOX Weather reported. Intense rainfall that followed pushed rivers to record levels, leading to emergency declarations, evacuations and rescue operations in Colorado, Arizona, Utah and New Mexico, NPR said.
