Serbian student coalition demands resignations after parliamentary win
The student-led List-Students Win coalition said on 29 October that it was demanding the resignation of senior officials and a fresh probe into alleged graft tied to Aleksandar Vučić’s tenure, following its parliamentary majority win. The demand was presented in a public statement in Belgrade.
The coalition’s victory, announced on 23 October, gave it 140 of the 250 seats, ending the Serbian Progressive Party’s 14-year hold on power; President Vučić acknowledged the loss and conceded defeat. European Council President António Costa and Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the result and pledged reform support as Serbia pursues closer EU ties.
