Reuters reported that around 1,000 Salvadoran soldiers arrived in Port-au-Prince on 27 October, continuing the operation to locate four members of the UN-backed security force who had been ambushed by Haitian gangs. According to Reuters, President Nayib Bukele said on 21 October that Haitian gangs were holding four Salvadoran members of the UN-backed force hostage and announced a military rescue mission. Euronews noted that the hostages were aviation technicians and warned of stronger action if they were not released alive.

Miami Herald said the Salvadoran government dispatched 100 special-forces troops to Haiti, and three military flights, including a U. S. C-130, landed in Port-au-Prince to search for the missing soldiers.

摘要

Three claims were partially confirmed: President Nayib Bukele announced that Haitian gangs are holding four Salvadoran members of a UN-backed security force hostage on October 21, 2026; he stated on October 22, 2026, that a military effort had begun to free four Salvadoran aviation technicians seized by gangs in Haiti; and approximately 1,000 Salvadoran soldiers arrived in Haiti around October 27, 2026, following the disappearance of four UN-backed mission members in an ambush. Two claims had insufficient evidence: Haitian authorities prioritizing the release of the four Salvadoran soldiers on October 22, 2026, and the United States providing transport aircraft for the Salvadoran soldiers arriving in Haiti. No claims were fully confirmed or refuted.
