Kayem Foods emitió un retiro de clase I de aproximadamente 1,6 millones de libras de carnes y aves listas para consumir después de que una falla en el sistema de enfriamiento de su almacén en Massachusetts generara sospechas de abuso de temperatura, informó el Servicio de Inspección y Seguridad Alimentaria del Departamento de Agricultura de EE.  UU. (FSIS).

Informes anteriores indicaban que el retiro nacional abarcaba más de 1,5 millones de libras de hot dogs, tocino, salchichas y carnes frías por posible violación de la temperatura. Kayem Foods había retirado voluntariamente cerca de 1,58 millones de libras de productos similares tras la falla del enfriador que provocó desviaciones de temperatura, y el FSIS anunció el retiro para proteger la salud pública.
