Kayem Foods Issues Class I Recall of 1.6 Million Pounds of Ready-to-Eat Meat
Kayem Foods issued a Class I recall of about 1. 6 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry after a cooling-system failure at its Massachusetts warehouse raised concerns of temperature abuse, the U. S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said.
Earlier reports said the nationwide recall covered more than 1. 5 million pounds of hot dogs, bacon, sausages and deli meats because of possible temperature abuse. Kayem Foods had voluntarily recalled roughly 1. 58 million pounds of similar products after the cooler malfunction caused temperature deviations, and the FSIS announced the recall to protect public health.
