Tesla earnings preview and Musk's SpaceX share giveaway to U.S. children
According to CNBC, Tesla announced it would report its third-quarter 2026 earnings, with analysts expecting $0. 43 per share on $27. 9 billion revenue, and CEO Elon Musk suggested a potential merger with SpaceX. Earlier, Business Insider reported that Musk pledged to give one SpaceX share to every child in the United States, a giveaway valued at roughly $10. 5 billion. CNBC later said Musk proposed placing those shares in Trump Accounts, which are subject to Treasury rules limiting early sales.
CNBC also noted that SpaceX shares hovered around $148 as investors weighed AI revenue growth, Starship testing and lockup-related volatility ahead of the quarter’s earnings. ABC News reported that SpaceX posted a 161% year-over-year revenue increase, turning a $1. 05 billion loss into a $4. 40 billion profit, driven by its AI unit and Starlink service. Finally, CNBC quoted Altimeter Capital chief Brad Gerstner saying the giveaway could spark a $100 billion philanthropic drive through Trump Accounts.
