Giants cut Najee Harris after criticism and limited snaps
The New York Giants released running back Najee Harris on 20 October after he publicly criticized his limited snaps, with head coach John Harbaugh reiterating that playing time must be earned. Earlier in the week, NBC Sports reported that the team intended to give Harris a larger share of carries in the Week 6 game against the New Orleans Saints, but the backfield remained constrained after Cam Skattebo was held to zero carries following an overtime fumble.
The Giants had already limited Skattebo’s snaps after the fumble, and Harbaugh emphasized that running backs must earn their touches. The move left Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy to compete for expanded roles.
