49ers face roster shortage as Nick Bosa sits out fifth game
The San Francisco 49ers entered their Week 7 game against the Atlanta Falcons on 24 October with a depleted roster, as defensive end Nick Bosa sat out his fifth consecutive contest and coach Kyle Shanahan warned the team might not have enough healthy players to fill the 48-man roster. Earlier in the week, the team confirmed that wide receiver Mike Evans and several other contributors were ruled out for the Atlanta matchup. Evans, who had been listed as questionable after aggravating an Achilles soreness, was ultimately declared unavailable.
The 49ers had also hoped Bosa might return after missing practice earlier in the week, but the injury persisted. Prior reports noted that fullback Kyle Juszczyk was cleared to play, while Christian Kirk remained on injured reserve and would not suit up.
