ABC News reported that a service member assigned to the Air Force 6th Combat Training Squadron died after falling during a pre-game rappelling demonstration at the University of Texas at San Antonio’s Salute to Armed Forces football game in the Alamodome. NBC News identified the deceased as Tech. Sgt.

Ian Patterson, saying he fell from the rafters during the same pre-game demonstration before the UTSA-Navy matchup. Earlier, ESPN cited Air Force officials who said a member of the service died while attempting the rappel in the ceremony preceding the game.
