Texas defeats Ole Miss as coach lauds Manning's confidence
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said quarterback Arch Manning's confidence helped the Longhorns rally past No. 7 Ole Miss 34-27. The victory came after a two-game losing streak that had prompted Sarkisian to say after the 27-24 defeat to Florida that the program would evaluate its offensive scheme and the quarterback position.
He later confirmed Manning would stay the starter, noting that backup KJ Lacey Jr. might receive more first-team reps. Ahead of the Ole Miss matchup, Sarkisian warned Manning needed to improve and described him as "edgy", while also indicating the starting role would be decided based on performance.
